TDB Partners with Primary Healthtech to Advance AI-Powered Point-of-Care Blood Testing Device
The Technology Development Board (TDB), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India,
has signed an agreement with M/s Primary Healthtech Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi, for the project titled
โIoT-enabled Point-of-care Blood Testing Device for Affordable and Accessible Healthcare powered by AI/ML algorithms.โ
About the company & Mobilab
Founded by IIT Guwahati alumni Mr. Sahil Jagnani and Mr. Ankit Choudhury, Primary Healthtech
emerged from a multidisciplinary team of doctors, researchers, entrepreneurs, professors, and students focused on
affordable diagnostics for underserved populations. Backed initially by BIRAC, the team developed
Mobilabโa portable, battery-operated, IoT-enabled clinical chemistry analyser powered by AI/ML,
capable of testing 25+ parameters related to kidney, liver, heart, vitamins, and cancer.
IP, trials & regulatory milestones
The company holds a patent for โA transmittance-based system/kit for point-of-care quantificationโ transferred from
IIT Guwahati, and has filed over six additional patent applications spanning integrated mixers, assay development,
centrifuges, and proprietary optical systems. Mobilab has undergone trials on 10,000+ patients and
recently received a CDSCO manufacturing licence.
What the project will do
The project will enhance the current prototype (M1) to enable five simultaneous tests, reducing waiting
time and paving the way for commercial-scale manufacturing. The next-generation Mobilab will include tests such as
Hemoglobin, Creatinine, Bilirubin, Cholesterol, Triglycerides, Uric Acid, Glucose, and GGT, among others.
What TDB said
TDB Secretary Sh. Rajesh Kumar Pathak stated that ensuring quality healthcare access in rural and remote
regions is a national priority, and highlighted how the project demonstrates Indiaโs capability in developing
indigenous, AI-powered diagnostic solutions for primary healthcare.
What the promoters said
The promoters of Primary Healthtech Pvt. Ltd. said TDBโs support will accelerate the journey from lab innovation to
large-scale deployment. With Mobilab, they envision bridging the healthcare gap for rural and underserved
communities by making advanced diagnostics available at the point of care across India.
This collaboration reinforces TDBโs commitment to nurturing indigenous healthcare innovations aligned with
Atmanirbhar Bharat and advancing Indiaโs footprint in affordable medical technologies globally.
