New Income Tax Rules to Be Notified by December, Effective from April 2026
detailed rules notified by December 2025, according to R.N. Parbat, Member of the
Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).
Simpler ITR Forms in the Works
Parbat said that the CBDT is also preparing simplified income tax return (ITR) forms to make compliance
easier for taxpayers. Along with the rules, the department will also release a set of
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to provide clarity on key provisions under the new law.
New Law Replaces 1961 Act
The Income Tax Act, 2025 received the assent of President Droupadi Murmu earlier this year.
It will replace the long-standing Income Tax Act of 1961, bringing in a modernised framework to address
present-day economic and compliance requirements.
