Helpline 1930 helps save over rs. 5,489 crore in 17.82 lakh cyber fraud cases

The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced several key measures to combat the rising menace of cyber crime and digital fraud across India.

In a written reply to Lok Sabha (Unstarred Question No. 2565 dated August 5, 2025), Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Bandi Sanjay Kumar, detailed the Central Governmentโ€™s multi-pronged strategy under the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C).

Cyber crime complaints made easier with national reporting portal

The government has launched the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (https://cybercrime.gov.in) to simplify the process of lodging cyber crime complaints, particularly those targeting women and children. Complaints received through this portal are automatically routed to the respective State/UT law enforcement agencies.helpline 1930 saves over rs. 5,489 crore

To address financial frauds, the Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System (CFCFRMS) was established in 2021. Victims can call the 1930 toll-free helpline for immediate help. This system has helped prevent the loss of over Rs. 5,489 crore in more than 17.82 lakh complaints.

Cyber fraud mitigation centre coordinates nationwide action

A Cyber Fraud Mitigation Centre (CFMC) at I4C brings together banks, telecom providers, payment aggregators, and police departments to ensure rapid response and information sharing. This collaboration has led to the blocking of over 9.42 lakh SIM cards and 2.63 lakh mobile IMEIs.

Cyber forensic support and officer training strengthened

The National Cyber Forensic Laboratory in New Delhi assists police officers in handling cyber investigations. It has already supported over 12,460 cases. Additionally, the โ€˜CyTrainโ€™ portal offers online cyber crime investigation training to police and judicial officers, with over 1.05 lakh officers enrolled and 82,704 certificates issued.

Samanvaya and pratibimb for criminal tracking

The government has introduced Samanvaya, a coordination platform for sharing cyber crime data among law enforcement agencies. The Pratibimb module visually maps criminal networks, contributing to the arrest of 12,987 cyber criminals and detection of over 1.5 lakh interstate crime linkages.

Massive awareness campaigns underway

To raise public awareness, the government has rolled out extensive campaigns using social media (CyberDost handles), TV, radio, cinema ads, school initiatives, and events like Kumbh Mela and IPL. Special efforts have been made to educate citizens about digital arrest scams, including public addresses by the Prime Minister in Mann Ki Baat.
