Consumers Can Report GST Rate Cut Violations on Helpline 1915

New Delhi โ€” The government on Tuesday announced that consumers who have not received the benefit of the GST rate cut can file complaints through multiple official channels.

How to File Complaints

According to the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), aggrieved customers may contact the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) in the following ways:

  • Toll-free number: 1915
  • WhatsApp: 8800001915

Complaints and queries can also be lodged on the Integrated Grievance Redressal Mechanism (INGRAM) portal, CBIC added.

GST 2.0 Structure Explained

Effective September 22, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) has been simplified into a two-tier system:

  • 5%
  • 18%

The earlier four slabs of 5%, 12%, 18% and 28% were merged into just two rates, leading to reduced prices on 99% of daily-use items.

Important Highlight

๐Ÿ”Ž While the anti-profiteering mechanism has not been activated for profiteering-related complaints, the government is closely monitoring pricing practices. Several companies have already confirmed they are passing on the tax cut benefits by reducing prices.

Concerns Raised by Consumers

Despite this, social media complaints suggest that some businesses are not fully transferring the benefits of the GST reduction to customers. The CBIC has encouraged consumers to report such cases promptly through official helplines.
