Bank of Baroda Staff in Burdwan Region Allege Misconduct, Abusive Behaviour by Senior Officials
Burdwan, September 18, 2025: In a serious development, employees of Bank of Baroda’s Burdwan region have lodged a formal complaint with the bank’s MD & CEO in Mumbai, accusing Regional Manager (RM) Mr. Rajesh Das and Deputy Regional Manager (DRM) Mr. Prabhat Jha of misconduct, harassment, and creating a hostile work environment.
Staff Allegations
The complaint states that RM and DRM have repeatedly used abusive and humiliating language during meetings, leaving staff demoralised and fearful. Employees claim the atmosphere has become “toxic, unsafe and intimidating.”
Alleged Abusive Remarks
According to the complaint, some of the exact statements made by the RM and DRM include:
- “Doob maro” — (“Go drown yourself / Go die”).
- “Suicide kar lo” — (“Go commit suicide”).
- “Haramkhor” — (a severe abusive insult).
- “Besharam” — (“Shameless”).
- “Sharm nahi aata” — (“Don’t you feel ashamed?”).
- “Aisa jagah transfer karenge ki nani yaad aa jayegi” — (threat of punitive transfer).
- “RO bulana sabko and diwar ke taraf muh kar ke din bhar khada kar do” — (order to make staff stand facing the wall all day).
- “In sabka GPS ke through track karo” — (threat to track staff movements through GPS).
The employees allege that such remarks are not isolated but repeated, amounting to verbal abuse and harassment in clear violation of workplace ethics.

Other Complaints
- Excessive Reporting Pressure: Employees are allegedly forced to submit hourly and daily updates in multiple WhatsApp groups, leaving little time for core responsibilities.
- Excessive Meetings: The workday reportedly begins with a Teams call and continues with 5–6 more meetings, disrupting customer service.
- Harassment Over GEMS Scores: Staff claim they are threatened with punitive actions if they fail to achieve 100/100 GEMS scores, creating mental stress instead of motivation.
Impact on Staff & Customers
The complaint warns that staff morale has collapsed, customer service is suffering, and employees are under unbearable psychological pressure. “The workplace has become unsafe and intimidating,” the letter says, demanding an independent inquiry into the matter.
Background
This is not the first complaint against the Burdwan regional leadership. Earlier this year, a branch head was reportedly transferred after similar disputes with the RM.
Next Steps
The employees have urged Bank of Baroda’s top management to order an impartial investigation and take corrective action to restore dignity and professionalism in the workplace.
