Mumbai: October is packed with major festivals and holidays. As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks across different cities will remain closed on 21 days in October 2025. This covers Durga Puja, Karva Chauth, Diwali, Chhath Puja, plus regular Sundays and the second & fourth Saturdays.

Important festival-linked holidays

  • October 1: Navratri, Dussehra, Vijayadashami, Durga Puja โ€“ banks closed in cities including Agartala, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Gangtok, Guwahati, Kolkata, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Shillong, Thiruvananthapuram and others.
  • October 2: Gandhi Jayanti (all-India holiday).
  • October 6: Lakshmi Puja in Agartala and Kolkata.
  • October 10: Karva Chauth (Shimla).
  • October 20โ€“23: Diwali holidays in Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, Patna, Kolkata for Deepavali, Kali Puja, Govardhan Puja, Vikram Samvat New Year, Bhai Dooj.
