AIBOBOU Urges Bank of Baroda to Review Mechanically Rejected Transfer Grievances

In a significant development highlighting growing unrest among officers, the All India Bank of Baroda Officers’ Union (AIBOBOU) has formally written to the General Manager – Human Resources of Bank of Baroda, urging a one-time merit-based review of officer transfer grievances that were dismissed with stereotypical responses.

The union expressed deep dissatisfaction over the HR Department’s handling of transfer-related complaints, particularly pointing out that many grievances were disposed of with vague and non-explanatory remarks such as “No merit found” or “Policy compliant.” According to the union, these dismissals lacked transparency, failed to provide reasoning from the Competent Committee, and left no room for correction or understanding by the aggrieved officers.

“This mechanical and non-speaking approach,” the letter noted, “defeats the very purpose of grievance redressal mechanisms and erodes the officers’ trust in the system.” The union emphasized that many complaints relate to genuine hardships, including medical emergencies and procedural errors, which may not align with internal policy or guidelines issued by the Department of Financial Services (DFS).

The key demands made by AIBOBOU include:

  1. A one-time merit-based review of all grievances from officers in Scales I to IV.
  2. Re-examination of these cases by Competent Committees with compassion and in line with policy guidelines.
  3. Issuance of reasoned and speaking orders for future grievance disposals.
  4. Positive resolution of cases with valid documentation and policy backing.

The union believes that such corrective action would reinforce transparency, uphold officer morale, and restore faith in the institution’s HR practices. Copies of the letter were also forwarded to the Managing Director & CEO, the Executive Director (HR), the Secretary of DFS (MoF), and the Chief Labour Commissioner.

The ball is now in the HR Department’s court as officers await a fair and constructive response.
