Mother Dairy, Amul Milk Prices: New GST 2.0 Rate Card Effective From Today, September 22
New Delhi: The GST Council has cut Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates on milk and dairy products, effective September 22, 2025. Following the decision, major brands like Mother Dairy and Amul have announced price reductions across UHT milk, paneer, ghee, butter, cheese, and other products.
GST Cut on Dairy Products
The move was decided during the 56th GST Council meeting held on September 3, 2025. The government said the removal and reduction of GST on dairy items will ensure quality milk and related products are available to families at lower prices.
Key GST Rate Changes
- UHT Milk: Reduced from 5% to 0% (tax-free)
- Paneer: Reduced from 12% to 0% (tax-free)
- Butter, Ghee, Cheese, Other Dairy Fats: Reduced from 12% to 5%
- Milk Cans (Iron, Steel, Aluminium): Reduced from 12% to 5%
- Plant-Based Milk Beverages (excluding soya milk): Reduced from 18% to 5%

- Ghee: 12% → 5%

- Frozen Snacks, Jams, Pickles, Coconut Water, Tomato Puree: 12% → 5%
Amul: New Prices
Amul Product Price Reductions (Effective September 22, 2025)
- Amul Butter (100g): ₹62 → ₹58 (₹4 cut)
- Amul Ghee (1L): ₹650 → ₹610 (₹40 cut)
- Processed Cheese Block (1kg): ₹575 → ₹545 (₹30 cut)
- Frozen Paneer (200g): ₹99 → ₹95 (₹4 cut)
- Amul Taaza Toned UHT Milk (1L): ~₹3 reduction
- Amul Gold UHT Milk (1L): ~₹3 reduction
The GST rate cut is expected to provide immediate relief to consumers, ensuring dairy essentials are more affordable while boosting demand during the festive season.
