Nationwide Financial Inclusion Drive: Over 35 Lakh Re-KYC Completed So Far

Banks are running a nationwide Gram Panchayat-level campaign from July 1, 2025 to September 30, 2025 to saturate Financial Inclusion (FI) schemes. The initiative also covers re-KYC of bank accounts, awareness on unclaimed deposits, and resolving customer grievances. The Government and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) are monitoring progress closely.

Campaign Snapshot (as on August 11, 2025):

  • 1.41 lakh+ camps organised nationwide
  • 35 lakh+ bank accounts completed re-KYC
  • Focus on Financial Inclusion schemes, unclaimed deposits awareness, and grievance redressal

Governor’s Field Visit

Governor Sanjay Malhotra: “Greater collaboration among banks, RBI, and local communities is essential to make banking services accessible to all citizens and improve coverage of government’s financial inclusion schemes.”

On August 11, 2025, RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra visited a camp at Gozaria Gram Panchayat, Mehsana (Gujarat), joined by the MD & CEO of Bank of Baroda, RBI’s Regional Director, and senior officials from various banks. He interacted with customers, business correspondents, Self Help Groups, and representatives from participating banks.

Deputy Governors’ Visits

  • August 8, 2025 – Ormanjhi Gram Panchayat, Ranchi (Jharkhand): Deputy Governor M. Rajeshwar Rao reviewed re-KYC progress with RBI Regional Director and senior bank officials.
  • August 9, 2025 – Thirukandalam Gram Panchayat, Tiruvallur (Tamil Nadu): Deputy Governor Swaminathan J attended with MD & CEOs and EDs of Indian Bank and Indian Overseas Bank, the District Collector, RBI Regional Director, and senior bank officials.

  • Update KYC details promptly to ensure uninterrupted and secure banking services.
  • Take advantage of enrolment in social security schemes such as insurance and pension plans.
  • Use grievance counters at camps for quick redressal of issues.

Campaign Timeline

  • September 30, 2025: Campaign concludes across all Gram Panchayats

The camps will continue in every Gram Panchayat until September 30, 2025. Customers are urged to participate to complete their re-KYC, benefit from financial inclusion schemes, and resolve any pending banking issues.
