The Central Government has nominated Ms. Anuradha Thakur, Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, as a Director on the Central Board of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). She replaces Shri Ajay Seth in this key role.
The nomination is effective from July 24, 2025, and will remain in force until further orders.
Ms. Thakur brings extensive administrative and economic policy experience to the RBI’s apex decision-making body, which plays a crucial role in shaping India’s monetary and financial framework.
The Central Board of Directors of the RBI comprises officials from the government, RBI leadership, and independent members, and is instrumental in guiding the Bank’s functions under the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934.
