Bank of Baroda Withdraws Unauthorized Absence Remark Against Employee After Conciliation

In a significant development, the Regional Labour Commissioner (Central), Jammu, facilitated a formal settlement between Bank of Baroda and its employee, Ms. Shaphali Jain, following a dispute over alleged unauthorized absence.

The case was raised by the United Forum of We Bankers, which filed an online application (ID No. 300134019) on June 25, 2025, challenging the marking of unauthorized absence against Ms. Jain by the bank’s management.

During the conciliation proceedings held on July 23, 2025, both parties reached an agreement. The management, represented by Ms. Madhvi Saini, Senior Manager – HR, clarified that no unauthorized absence had been marked against Ms. Jain for the date June 25, 2025, and assured that such marking will not be made in the future for that date.

Furthermore, the bank acknowledged that it had issued a letter dated June 25, 2025, regarding the alleged unauthorized absence. However, after receiving a written representation from Ms. Jain on the same day, the bank reviewed the matter and decided not to consider the absence as unauthorized.

The settlement was officially recorded in Form-H (See Rule 58) under file number 08(33)/2025/RLC/Jmu. The conciliation was concluded in the presence of Ms. Nirmala Kanwat, Conciliation Officer and Regional Labour Commissioner (Central), Jammu.

This resolution marks a positive outcome for the workman and reinforces the role of conciliation mechanisms in resolving workplace disputes amicably.
