Vijayawada:
India’s ace compound archer Jyothi Surekha Vennam was warmly felicitated by the Union Bank of India officials at her residence in Vijayawada on Friday, in recognition of her outstanding performance at the World Cup Archery Stage IV held in Madrid.
The event was led by Mr. C.V.N. Bhaskara Rao, Convenor of State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) Andhra Pradesh and Field General Manager (FGM) of Union Bank, Vijayawada Zone. He was accompanied by Vijayawada Regional Head M.V. Tilak, Bank Manager Mrs. Priyanka, and Jyothi’s father, V. Surendra.
During the felicitation, Mr. Bhaskara Rao praised Jyothi’s continued excellence, stating:
“It is a great honour to meet an athlete like Surekha. Her recent win of two silver medals and a bronze, along with setting a world record in the mixed doubles event at the Madrid World Cup, reaffirms that she is India’s brightest medal hope for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where the compound bow category will debut.”
Aiming for Olympic Glory
Jyothi Surekha, known for her consistent podium finishes at international events, expressed her determination to maintain her winning form.
“The Olympics may be three years away, but staying focused and consistent will help me chase my dream of winning an Olympic medal,” she said with optimism.
Her achievements at the Madrid World Cup have not only added to her personal accolades but also strengthened India’s prospects in archery on the global stage.
